TENTH STATION: JESUS CONFERS SUPREMACY ON PETER

P  We adore You, O Risen Christ, and we bless You.

A  Because by Your resurrection, You have given life to the world.

R  From the Gospel according to John (Jn 21:15-17)

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

Reflection from a letter written by Pier Giorgio to Mario Bergonzi  (April 1922)

I would like to be in your place to see the Holy Father every now and then, you know how I love the Pope; I would like to do something for him, but being unable to do so, I pray every day that Jesus would give him many consolations and blessings. Long live the Pope, long may he live.

P  Let us pray

A  Oh Father, we thank you for our Holy Father who lives out his apostolic mission with generosity and humility. Strengthen him, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, may all those who see him be witnesses of Your resurrection. Amen.
