Louise de Marillac, A Woman of the Church
Louise was convinced that it was the Spirit who brought about the foundation of the Church on Pentecost and therefore the same Holy Spirit guides the Church and does marvelous things in the Church. One of the marvels that occurred during the seventeenth century was the expansion of the role of women as seen by their participation in the Confraternities of Charity and then by their participation in a new and unique form of religious life (the Daughters of Charity).
