For the sake of the country poor, St. Vincent de Paul founded the Congregation of the Mission to preach and educate the people. They met with clergy at each parish to find out and address their urgent needs, then finished by making provisions for the ongoing care of the parish’s poorest, usually with the establishment of Confraternities of Charity. On January 25 we celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Congregation of the Mission. Since 1625, Saint Vincent’s community of priests and brothers have worked to spread God’s message of hope to the poor and train priests and laity to serve and advocate for those living in poverty. Blessed Anna Maria Janer Anglarill (18 December 1800-11 January 1885) was a Spanish nun who established the Sisters of the Holy Family of Urgell. She chose St. Vincent de Paul as a primary patron of her Sisters. See presentation and video
