There has been an Association of the Miraculous Medal since 1847, but it was only in Paris. It took over 60 years to establish an international Association of the Miraculous Medal. Under statutes approved by Pope Pius X in 1909, the AMM was organized internationally. Mary gave the Miraculous Medal to the world for the poor, the suffering of the whole world, who are without hope, like sheep without a shepherd.
