Lenten Series: The Virtue of Mortification

With the Lenten season almost upon us, we begin a new series on the virtue of mortification– one of the five Vincentian Virtues. Mortification is the self-discipline that stands against seeking only what pleases me in the here and now, for the sake of more important goals. In this first presentation, learn why St. Vincent insisted on the necessity of mortification. This virtue is all about making choices, and the goal for our choices. In the Vincentian context, choices are made in solidarity with and for those who live in poverty.

Wise Asset Management Toolkit: A New Resource for the Vincentian Family

You may have heard about a series of Vincentian workshops focusing on three related topics: Wise Asset Management, Strategic Planning, and Grant Writing. This project is sponsored by the Congregation of the Mission and is being presented at international locations by a team (Fr. Joseph Agostino CM, Sr. Marge Clifford DC, and Fr. Robert Maloney CM). Now for the first time, the workshop materials have been made available online. Fr. Maloney writes, “Wise Asset Management, after the example of Sts. Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marillac, is essential for the sustainability of the Vincentian Family’s works among the poor. Vincent and Louise offer us numerous tools for using our human and material assets creatively.” Click here to access the Wise Asset Management Toolkit.

Those Who Live in Poverty Have the Power to Save Us

In this new presentation, we examine the questions: How are those living in poverty a salvific (saving) force to us? How and why are ‘the poor’ placed at the center of the Church? How do we discover Christ in the poor? What is revealed to us by their very lives? This is the latest in our series of resources dedicated to the Vincentian Year of New Evangelization.
