The Keeler Women’s Center is operated by the Benedictine Sisters whose motherhouse is in Atchison, Kansas. They seek to empower women to take control of their lives and the lives of their children by using resources available in the community. They provide professional counseling for the women and their families, support groups, health and nutritional education, mentoring and workshops on goal setting and time management.
In collaboration with Literacy Kansas City they provide tutoring services and weekly ESL classes. Volunteers assist with writing resumes, job searches and interview skills.
Each month a session on a “holy woman” is conducted. These women could be saints or contemporary women. Prayer, reflection, and discussion are part of the session.
